In our ongoing commitment to our local community, Big Surf is always looking for ways to support the largest number of people and especially children.
One of our missions this year was to support the Lake Ozark Baseball & Softball League which helped over 300 children with equipment and uniform purchases.
We recently received a very nice thank you letter (You’re welcome!) and a beautiful picture of smiling faces and wanted to share it with you:

This year is our 3rd Annual Backpack Drive to benefit an area organization named MOCA. MISSOURI COMMUNITY ACTION gives assistance to a wide variety of groups and families all over the local region by offering family support, life skill classes and even tax information. The Big Surf Backpack Drive supports MOCA’s cause by offering a discount to customers who bring backpacks and school supplies which are then distributed to underprivileged students in our area.
We at Big Surf would like to thank our customers for making this drive a success once again in 2010. Just look at a few of the items that were donated:

I know you can all read a calendar, but I wanted to remind you that today, June 30, is the LAST DAY for two of our most popular offers/discounts:
- The Alpha Program ends today. This is the deal that allows every child in Missouri from Kindergarden through Grade 5 who has an “A” or equivalent on their final report card to visit the park once for absolutely free. Click here for more details. (Remember, you must bring the report card to qualify!)
- Today is also the last day that our Golden Tickets are valid for free entry into the park. If you haven’t heard about our Golden Tickets, make sure you keep an eye out next year for Gil the Shark’s early season appearances across mid-Missouri. He never leaves home without a bunch of these in his, er, fin. Get one and you qualify for one free entry into the park during June – provided you’re less than 18 years old, that is.
So you have been warned! Today’s your last chance! It’s looking like another hot one, so make the most of these offers, and come on down today if you can! Hope to see you here later!

No, it’s not the bell that signals the start of another ten minute session of crazy waves in the wave pool.
It’s the screams of delight that follow, as people rush into the water and wait for the fun to start.
Have you heard those screams yet this year?
Family Fun Fun Fest

No, that title is not a mistake….I felt like the fest deserved another fun in there, just to get the point across. Gil Shark made an appearance at the first Family Fun Fest of the summer in Columbia on Wednesday, June 16th. Columbia Parks and Recreation gets a big round of applause on this one! The event was magnificent!
Big Surf and Gil were definitely not the only ones there, either. Bass Pro was there letting the kids “fish” and there was even a comedic magic man making balloon art! Runge Nature Center, The Department of Conservation and many others were present. KPLA 101.5 (Missouri’s Number One Soft Rock Radio Station) was there, also, helping Big Surf give away a family 4 pack of tickets! A big thank you to them for the help!

We live for sunshine. And heat. And humidity.
All those things that make Missouri summers so very special.
Because the hotter and stickier it is, the nicer it is in the water.
So imagine our delight when we see things like this, from our website earlier today. Five consecutive days in the 90s. That’s what we like to see.
Ladies and Gentlemen, summer has definitely arrived. Time for a visit, perhaps?!?
